In the last thirteen years, we have raised over $250,000 for children’s brain cancer research. These donations have gone to Boston Children’s Hospital (first two years), the Pediatric Brain Tumor Foundation and Johns Hopkins, but it hasn’t been enough.  Children are still dying from this horrible disease.  Brain cancer is not often talked about and does not get the funding that is desperately needed.  Brain tumor/cancer research is one of the most under-funded areas of cancer research in this country.

Every day, parents receive the devastating news that their child has a brain cancer.  We know first-hand what a vile disease brain cancer is and are fighting to find better treatment options of this life threatening disease.  Prognosis for surviving this cancer has not improved as with other cancers, and the effects of treatment are devastating.  We will not let our son become another statistic, but we need your support; we can’t win this battle alone!

I am reaching out for your support in our 14th Annual Brain Cancer Fundraiser!

All donors will receive special mention in our event program book and on our website.  You can help by:

  • Becoming a Champion or Fan Sponsor.
  • Placing an Advertisement in Our Tournament Program Book.
  • Donating an Item or Service for Our Raffle and Silent Auction.
  • Donating Your Time as a Volunteer.
  • Donating to Our Wall of Courage.

Our fundraising culminates with our 14th Annual Stick It to Brain Tumors Women’s Ice Hockey Benefit Tournament, March 19-22, 2020 at Union College’s Messa Rink. Stop by for entertaining hockey, a great raffle and silent auction!

All proceeds this year are being donated to the Pediatric Brain Tumor Foundation (PBTF) for pediatric brain tumor research and Johns Hopkins Division of Neuropathology.  Both are 501(c)(3) nonprofit organizations dedicated to search for the cause, improve treatment options and find a cure for childhood brain tumors; Johns Hopkins is doing research on the type of tumor my son has.

Here is what your donation means to Johns Hopkins and parents with children that have brain tumors :

Thank you, and your family and friends, for your continued support of Johns Hopkins Medicine through the “Stick It to Brain Tumors” ice hockey annual event.  Your generosity, in honor of your son Bryan, truly is making a difference in the work being led by Charles Eberhart, M.D., Ph.D. and his research team in the Department of Pathology.  Each year, they are making great strides in the study of pediatric brain tumors which will benefit many children throughout the United States and around the globe. Thanks to your investment, the pilocytic and pilomyxoid research fund serves as a critical resource.  We are extremely fortunate to have your loyal partnership.

Sincerely,

Paul B. Rothman, M.D.

Again, I hope we can count on your support to help us reach our goal of $25,000.  All money raised goes towards this goal and we rely on your support to reach it.  If you have any questions, call me at 518-321-2189.

With grateful appreciation,

Debbie Jackson
